Day 63 - Weigh-in Results: 283 lbs.

I did it! My weigh-in results for Tuesday, September 21 (recorded that day, but first posted today) show a one pound drop!

I'm still in plateau range, but moving downward, after the previous week's bump upward.

Since Tuesday, I am already noticing more signs that the weight is dropping again, so I am excited for next week to get here! No more plateau!!

Dad is doing well. His fragile body handled things okay. He is far from healthy, but a crisis was avoided and things are getting back to normal now. THANK YOU, Everyone, for your prayers and well wishes. Dad will be discharged Friday afternoon and we are so terribly grateful.

As you might guess, there was a lot of restaurant and cafeteria food this past week. I made the best choices I could, consistently, and still managed to lose a pound - despite all the stress and worry.

It CAN be done!

Thanks again for all the well wishes and wonderful emails!! xxox

  5. I was so happy to see you pop up in my reader. Congrats on the loss - don't see how you did it eating hospital food. That was the start of my month long setback, but sounds like you passed with flying colors. Great report on your dad. Although the immediate crisis has passed, I'm keeping your family on my prayer list.

  7. Ann, so glad to see you posting. This is what I have heard about plateaus. When you lose weight, you don't lose fat cells - at least not at our age. The fat cells are emptied of their fat, but fill with water (to maintain the status quo, I guess.) Eventually the body gets the message and the water leaves. I think during the water holding phase, we experience what is often called "squishy fat" rather than firm fat. Once the whoosh occurs, we are home free. So you may still be losing fat during a plateau, but it's not showing up on the scale. We get discouraged, give up, start overeating and fat again fills the cells. That's what I've heard. LOL. Maybe that info will help during another plateau.

I am so glad to hear that your dad is doing better.
    Hugs,
    Mary

  8. Okay, Mary, I love you. That water/fat cell thing is completely new to me, and I feel so much better (now) about last week's blip upward. I really was holding fast to my diet plan, and so I had plenty of confidence, but now perhaps some of the mystery is solved for me. Thanks!

Thanks, Karyn! I'm doing a lot of blog reading today, to try to catch up on what everyone is doing.

Sharon, it wasn't easy! You'd think they would have much healthier choices at a hospital, but you'd be surprised (well, YOU wouldn't be surprised, but you know what I mean). I was very selective. I ate a lot of salads, of course (when there was nothing else, there was always at least that). Thank you for keeping Dad in your prayers! The immediate scary thing is now behind him, but he is still facing a very tough battle ahead.

Tina, Karla and Anne - Thanks!! xx

Cinner - thanks, but gosh, I am sorry you are still not up to par. I hope you are feeling better soon! I'll be dropping by to read your blog (and the others), to catch up. I feel like I missed so much. Yes, only six more lbs to go! I am already setting my sites on a nice pair of Ralph Lauren loafers (my celebration for hitting the first 10% mini-goal).
